Constructors of Light is exhibiting art from the 40’s and 50’s.
Constructors of Light exhibition is exhibiting art from 1940’s and 1950’s in the Amos Anderson art museum in Helsinki 8.10.2010-2.1.2012.
Constructors of Light exhibition will have about 80 works of art from major Finnish artists. It will include paintings, prints and sculptures. Many of them have not previously been in public view. The exhibition spans the three floors of Amos Anderson museum.
Post-war era was interesting in Finnish art. People were hungry for culture and when the artists took a chance to travel to international centres, Finnish art obtained modernistic influences. Art markets and exhibitions were revived. People reached for the light from the shadows or war.
As with previous Association of Finnish Fine Arts Foundations (STSY) exhibitions, an art book will be included in the exhibition. Constructors of Light book is written by art historian, Doctor of Philosophy Erik Kruskopf, who creates an interesting review of the visual art and artists in the 40’s and 50’s. The book is published by the Finnish Literary Society (SKS).
